Safety equipment must be checked and maintained, and protective clothing must be worn at all times, particularly in areas of greater risk.

Regularly checking with employees/contractors for their feedback on safety issues is also an ideal, as the people doing the work are usually the best ones to provide ideas for safety.

Management must ensure all workers are safety trained and there is access to First Aid supplies, and on large sites, a First Aid Officer is recommended.  The First Aid Kits must be regularly checked and re-supplied, and must also be applicable to the site.

Safety signs must be brief, use symbols on workplaces where the workers may speak different languages so that their can be no misunderstanding, and they must be simple and clearly visible around the building site.

Strict attention to detail regarding health and safety issues will ensure all workers, supervisors and management have confidence in working on the building site.  This will aid in a more stable workplace, and ensure everyone concerned is comfortable with the commitment to safety regulations.
